Society Lies And Confuses

It’s common for us to be influenced by societal norms and expectations. We often allow others to determine what is considered “cool” or acceptable, forgetting that everyone has unique preferences. Unfortunately, this can result in a lack of individuality and even judgment toward those who don’t fit the mold. I think it’s time to challenge these preconceived notions and break free from the lies society has been telling us.

I’ll go first. Here are ten things society has been pushing lately that are absolute lies. Also, here are ten rebuttals to society’s nonsense.

Money Provides Happiness: While having financial stability and wealth can bring some comfort and ease in life, it is not a guarantee of lasting happiness. I know rich people who are miserable and poor people who are happy. Of course, studies have shown that people who pursue wealth as their primary goal often find that it does not lead to satisfaction in the long term. Happiness comes from things like positive relationships, personal growth, and a sense of purpose.

Your Career is Everything: Career success is undoubtedly important for financial stability, but it should not be the sole focus of one’s life. A fulfilling personal life, strong relationships, and enjoyable leisure activities are also critical for overall happiness and well-being. Striving for a work-life balance that allows for both career success and personal fulfillment is crucial.

Education is Not Worth It: Education is an investment in oneself and can bring numerous benefits, such as improved job prospects, higher earning potential, and personal growth. Education is a game changer if you are learning for the right reasons. Don’t confuse “education” with “degree.” Education is not about a degree. Education aims to develop individuals’ intellect, morality, and creativity. It’s also about fostering critical thinking and problem-solving and equipping people to navigate complexity and contribute to a better society.

Kids are a Burden: While having children can bring its own set of challenges and responsibilities, it can also bring immense joy and fulfillment. Raising children can be a rewarding experience that provides a sense of purpose and contributes to a person’s overall happiness.

Being Single is Being Happy: Sure, being single can offer freedom and independence, but it does not necessarily guarantee happiness. Relationships, both romantic and platonic, bring happiness and fulfillment. Pursuing supportive relationships and bringing joy to one’s life is essential.

Body Count Doesn’t Matter: The number of partners a person has had in the past can be a sensitive topic, but there is a reason for that. Oddly enough, society is pushing that it is a minor detail that should not impact one’s self-worth. However, this is not entirely true. Society seems to forget that sexual experiences can affect a person’s self-esteem, relationships, and personal life.

The “Other Side” is the Problem: Issues in society and personal relationships are complex and often cannot be attributed solely to one side. Blaming one group for all problems only perpetuates a divisive narrative and exacerbates the issue. It is important to take a nuanced approach and understand that problems often stem from various causes and that everyone has a role to play in finding a solution.

Physical Beauty is Everything: Physical appearance is only a small aspect of a person’s overall worth and should not be the sole focus of one’s self-image. Society places great emphasis on physical beauty, which can lead to self-esteem issues and an unhealthy fixation on external validation. Which, to be clear, is shallow. Focusing on inner beauty and personal growth is far more important. Remember, a youthful appearance is a rapidly depreciating asset.

Plant-Based Only Diets are Healthy: Many don’t seem to know that plant-based diets do not provide all the necessary nutrients required for optimal health. Some essential nutrients, such as certain amino acids and vitamins, are only found in animal products and need to be supplemented in a purely plant-based diet. That does not sound like something nature intended. It is important to ensure a balanced and varied diet that meets all nutritional needs. A plant-based diet just isn’t going to provide that naturally.

College is Required: Education is absolutely essential. However, college is not a one-size-fits-all solution for everyone and is not always the best option. Alternative paths, such as trade schools or self-education, can lead to successful careers and personal fulfillment as well. Your personal goals and interests should guide that decision.

Bonus – Radical Feminism: I have been seeing this one a lot lately. Cries of misogyny fill the internet while radical feminism attacks feminine females and confident men. While there is a lot that I could say on this topic, I’ll just say that misogyny isn’t resolved with misandry. If anything, it will only make it worse. Second, people should be aware of the Marxist underpinning of this movement.

Society has a way of making us feel insecure and inadequate, which is why it’s important to be aware of these common misconceptions. Many industries, with billions of dollars at their disposal, create and use these insecurities to their advantage. They keep us divided and convince us to purchase their products in an attempt to fix our perceived problems. It’s crucial to remember that many of these societal expectations are simply lies perpetuated for their own benefit. We should be mindful of what we choose to believe and not fall into the trap of buying into these false narratives. We can free ourselves from the confusion by recognizing these lies and embracing our individuality and self-worth.
